Dabota Cosmetics sets for Beauty Africa Expo 2015, Nigeria's Next Super Model 2015, and Africa International Fashion Week 2015
Dabota Lawson is the CEO and founder of the premium make-up company and brand known as Dabota Cosmetics.
Dabota, a former beauty queen ingeniously started her line of beauty products called Dabota under the company name: Billionaire Wife Limited (sounds really cool).

ECOWAS FASHION WEEK 2015 (SECOND EDITION)The Economic Community of West African States makes its 40th Anniversary with a fashion Week in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
Ecowas Fashion Week currently in its second edition is recording successes already on the building “fame board”. The organizers of EFW are mostly interested in building, expanding and encouraging fashion, and a common market hub amongst the West African States. ECOWAS-governed region is comprised of fifteen (15) countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
ATTENDANT BENEFITS OF ECOWAS FASHION WEEK
The average African youth is known for their vibrant and entrepreneurial spirit especially if in an enabling environment.
Apart from the chrematistic gains of ECOWAS FASHION WEEK in the region, one other key benefit will be the entrepreneurial engagement of youths across the 15 countries. Fashion creatives in designing, manufacturing, makeup artistry, styling, media, PR, photography, and beauty segments will be brought on board.
Awards and recognitions like “Lifetime Achievement Award” and The “ECOWAS Young Designer of the Year” will be given to designers who have contributed immensely in the area of fashion and most outstanding upcoming designer respectively. Being a yearly event, this will spur healthy competitiveness among young upcoming designers in the ECOWAS region to put in originality in their work.
One critical benefit when Ecowas Fashion Week kicked off was putting Africa on the world map thereby attracting mainstream investors in the region. It is also interesting that ECOWAS is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the beautiful Republic of Benin has been selected to host the Fashion Week, this is set to boost the tourism visibility of the country which is part of the objectives of Ecowas Fashion Week. The 40th Anniversary inauguration will be done by the Prime Minister of Benin Republic followed by a fashion exhibition and the event proper.
ECOWAS FASHION WEEK are partnering with top buyers who will be exposed to the raw ingenuity of these fashion creative. With reference to this, Joan Okorodudu said, "I am overwhelmed and honored. I am excited about this event and I think, the West African people especially the people of Benin Republic are more excited than me.” The organizers of the EFW are so bent on the success of the event that it defeated the effect of Ebola during the maiden edition, recording major turnout in attendance and participation.
In this second edition, anticipation gets a step higher as the organizers – IBCNL, Lagos Nigeria teams up with major corporate bodies in the Republic of Benin such as Trinity Events (handling the event) and Angels Modeling Agency to launch the 2nd edition of the ECOWAS Fashion Week. The event will be attended by many International Super Models, Celebrities, Renowned African Designers, and several other fashion brands.
Basically, the objectives of this fashion week are:
- To revive the African culture through fashion.
- To promote the dignity of womanhood.
- To open new windows of business opportunities.
- To encourage indigenous fashion designers.
- To redefine fashion shows by showcasing other fashion accessories.
- Encouraging the exportation of local designs in the region.

After several months of pondering on who wins the first ever Vogue Talent for Africa from the 11 shortlisted finalists, Laduma Ngxokolo, the 27 year old South African has emerged as the winner beating hundreds of young hopefuls who submitted their entries in a bid to landslide.
Laduma who relocated to London in 2014 after graduating from the prestigious Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University will showcase his collection in September and December at the Palazzo Morando in Milan and at the Africa International Fashion Week in Lagos Nigeria this year respectively.
The new ambassador for African Fashion who sources his raw materials from Port Elizabeth, South Africa is greatly inspired by the traditional Xhosa beadwork and his brand interprets this old fashioned Xhosa aesthetics in a contemporary perspective to incarcerate the true African soul. The brand based in Cape Town was founded in 2011.
This project “Scouting For Africa” is propelled by Vogue Talents in Collaboration With International Business Consortium Nigeria Limited headed by Joan Okorodudu, organizers Of Nigeria’s Next Super Model, ECOWAS Fashion Week and Africa International Fashion Week, partnered by Studio 24 and sponsored by Access Bank to empower and nurture talents out of the continent of Africa.

Vogue Talents in collaboration with International Business Consortium Nigeria limited organisers of Africa’s biggest model search and owners of ECOWAS Fashion week and Africa International fashion week in partnership with Studio 24 launches “Scouting for Africa”, sponsored by Access Bank PLC Nigeria together with Baileys.
This is a new international scouting project aimed at emerging womenswear, menswear or accessories designers of African nationality (they have to be born in one the African continent countries, even if they are currently based elsewhere) or at designers of any nationality but based in Africa.
The profiles of the best designers will appear in Vogue Italia in 2015. One of the selected designers, besides, will have the opportunity of presenting their garments and accessories within the marvelous setting of Palazzo Morando, in Milan, a showcase of international scouting, in September 2015. During this special event, the chosen designers will be able to show their collections to journalists, buyers and designers.
The designers who will be picked will feature at Africa International fashion week coming up on the 2nd to the 6th of December 2015 with an award night by Baileys targeting women who have made their mark in in the African fashion industry.
