Fall 2011 Looks We’d Love to See at the Oscars
The Academy Awards fall at an interesting time for stars and their stylists: the middle of fashion month. We already made some predictions as to what the night’s leading ladies will wear, but how will the new collections factor in? By Sunday, all New York and London fall 2011 collections will have shown, and Milan collections are coming in as we speak, so stylists and PRs are being put to the test to see how quickly a dress can go from the runway to L.A. They’d better be FedEx-ing their hearts out, because the following dresses need to have Oscar moments.
Unknowingly, each of the dresses we chose was either black, neutral or red. Boring? Perhaps, but most celebs have been playing it safe this awards season and it’s pretty likely that these are the colors we’re going to be seeing this weekend.
The reds: We could totally see Hailee Steinfeld pulling off this Marchesa number. This bow-belted Monique Lhuillier is definitely an option for Michelle Williams. The off-the-shoulder Monique Lhuillier would look great on just about anyone
The neutrals: The Donna Karan has Anne Hathaway or Scarlett Johansson written all over it. The embellishment on this super-special Jason Wu dress needs some red carpets attention, and so does Jason Wu for that matter. This tulle-heavy Marchesa dress screams Oscars and would be perfect on a major star, like Nicole Kidman or Annette Benning.
The blacks: We could see Jennifer Lawrence or Amy Adams in this ODLR number. This Derek Lam is a bit of a stretch since leather isn’t exactly typical red carpet fare, but if a leather moment ever were to happen, it should be in this dress. Phillip Lim is also not your usual Oscars contender, but this collection was exceptionally elegant. We could see this on Julianne Moore or even Natalie Portman, given its baby bump-friendliness.
